“If only our school had better support services.”
“This student isn’t getting enough practice at home.”
“I’ve tried everything I can think of, and it’s just not working.”

Overwhelmed, hard-working educators often fall into these and other Equity Traps when talking about students’ learning. Bringing colleagues’ attention back to their own practice, and the ways in which their instructional choices directly impact students, is not always easy. A conversation with a supportive, curious colleague or coach can make all the difference.

Coaching for Deeper Awareness helps teams build a shared approach to those conversations while strengthening collegial relationships and supporting more equitable decisions for students.

Designed for teams of 4 to 20.

Build a Shared Approach Across Your Team

When leaders and coaches have shared language and practices, difficult coaching conversations do not have to depend on one person’s instinct or style. Grounded in Lead by Learning’s Supportive Challenge framework, this workshop will build a team’s capacity to deepen colleagues’ awareness of equity roadblocks and address them, using coaching moves that strengthen, rather than disrupt, collegial relationships.

Together, your team will practice how to:

  • surface equity concerns without shutting down learning
  • help colleagues better understand what is happening for students
  • support colleagues to identify their own next steps for more equitable practice
  • plan meaningful follow-up that keeps reflection and learning moving forward

Your team will leave with shared language, practical coaching tools, and an approach you can continue using across your school or organization.

All participants will receive a Certificate of Completion.

Who Should Enroll?

This workshop is for leaders and teams across schools, departments, grade levels, after-school, and summer programs who want practical ways to help colleagues reflect on the equity impact of their decisions.

Whether coaching is part of your formal role or happens informally with peers, you’ll practice questioning assumptions and examining equity challenges while strengthening relationships.
